FAQ

  • Do FloatingFireplaces really float?

Yes, because of the innovative design, simple installation and light weight design, FloatingFireplaces are intended to be mounted to your wall, just like a picture frame or floating shelf - only easier. If you can find your wall studs, use a level, and insert 2 screws, then your fireplace will float!

  • Do I need a professional installer?

Most people can easily install these on their own. If you have physical limitations you might solicit the help of a handy neighbor. It’s no harder than hanging a picture frame on the wall, but it never hurts to have an extra set of hands for maneuvering.

  • Do I need a permit?

Always check local building and construction code, but since FloatingFireplaces are require no demolition, no electrical, gas, plumbing or venting, and easily plug into any existing electrical outlet, it’s highly unlikely your local municipality will require a permit. The digital fireplace inserts are fully contained in fire resistant casing that have passed common safety standards for retail in the U.S. and other regions.

  • How heavy are these?

Weight varies somewhat depending on which color/finish you choose but typically weigh less than 50 lbs. They can be lifted by a single healthy adult, and more easily maneuvered into position with an extra set of hands.

  • Can they be installed ANYwhere?

Yes, anywhere you have a grounded 3-prong electrical outlet. They’re designed to hang on the wall for clean minimalistic look, but you could even rest it on the floor. If you choose to rest it on the floor, be sure to secure it against the back wall to avoid tipping hazard.

  • Are FloatingFireplaces better than other electric fireplaces?

Yes, most electric fireplaces require demolishing your sheetrock and cutting into your studs in order to mount them in your wall, or they come in unsightly cabinet/hutches. FloatingFireplaces easily hang on the wall with only 2 screws/anchors and provide a better aesthetic with easy installation and relocation.

  • Where are FloatingFireplaces built?

FloatingFireplaces are made at our cabinet shop in the USA. Certain electronic components are imported and then assembled with the cabinets in our Mapleton, Utah facility.

  • What size are they?

Product dimensions vary by product. See details for each item in the Shop listing.

  • Do you accept returns?

Yes, non-damaged items may be returned in-person at our Mapleton, Utah production facility, and a refund will be issued upon inspection. Custom orders may not be returned or cancelled after order is placed.
